Denzel Washington - One of Denzel's most memorable roles was as corrupt cop who rules who district with an iron fist. On the opposite side of the law but morally sound, he's tipped to be at his best.
2Russell Crowe - L.A. Confidential showed he can play a US cop with style, despite him being a local boy. Russ is best when he gets to inhabit a factual character, so he's sure to bring Richie Roberts to life.
3Ridley Scott - Director Scott long-time collaborator of Crowe's, having gotten the very best out of him in Gladiator... and A Good Year. Both are purported to have outdone themselves.
