Best Thing: soundtrack, acting by Rhys Myers, Highmore and Russel
Worst Thing: Needed more at the end
This movie was a delightful surprise to watch. The story of an orphan boy who believes his parents are out there and want, runs away to search for them. The story has three arcs looking starting with the boy, August's parents meeting, the story then splits looking at the father Lewis (played by Irishman Jonathan Rhys Myers who showed a suprising ability to sing) the leader singer of a band with his brother (played by Aussie Alex O'Louglin whose small part was brilliantly acted) who after a period of 11 years goes back to music after his emotional breakdown of losing Lyla played by Felicity's Kerri Russel, whose amazing to watch and has a reel presence on screen), August's mother and a classicly trained celloist with the NY Phylharmonic Orchestra. Lyla believed that her son had died after she was hit by a car whilst pregnant. After the apparent death of her child she stops playing music and starts teaching. 11 years later she finds that her child did not die and she goes on a search to find him only to discover he was missing. August, had run away from the home he was living in search of his parents and on the way it was discovered he was a musical genius. The story arcs flow until the ending where all is resolved. The story and acting in this movie were brilliant, young Freddie Highmore was engaging and loveable showing an age beyond his years. Jonathan Rhys Myers proved he was more than just a pretty face, and you really feel for him after losing Lyla, and the feeling of drowning he experiences after. Kerri Russell is engaging, with her beauty, both on the inside and out shining through. Her presence doesn't hit you until she's not in the scene and you notice her loss. The soundtrack for this movie is on high rotation with both brilliant rock songs and moving classical music. My only problem with this movie is that I felt like the ending needed more, I wanted more of a resolution than what was given. Overall this was a brilliant and heartwarming movie and I highly recommend that everyone should watch it.
