London Midwife Anna Khitrova finds herself compelled to unravel the mysteries contained in the diary of a young woman who dies in childbirth at Christmas. She soon crosses paths with the charming Nikolai Luzhin, a driver for a notoriously brutal Russian crime family. As Anna digs deeper, Nikolai's loyalties are divided and a chain of murder and deceit threatens to ensnare them both.
