This is an interesting film with an unusual occupation taken up by Maggie (Marianne Faithfull) who wants to make money for her terminally ill grandson so he can get the medical treatment he so desperately needs. Maggie is a bit of a down and outer with no money prospects her son, the father of her grandson is also on the poverty line - Maggie sets out looking for work but has no skills so finds it increasingly difficult. One day she comes by an add for a hostess posted in a window in Soho. Curious Maggie descends the stairs of a dimly lit strip club. She is directed to to the manager and they engage in quite a funny conversation about what is required in the job of "hostess". I will not say it here because I do not want to ruin it for people. But lets's just say I didn't know these jobs even existed and I am in no way a prude! My husband and I enjoyed this film and found Marianne Faithfull to be just right in an awkward and funny way. It really is not smutty and people should not be put off by the sex worker stuff - you see nothing that would offend. We would recommend it.
