While his career is still unfolding, the lithe blond Jonny Lee Miller has delivered impressive performances in a handful of features and TV projects. The son of veteran actor Bernard Lee, Miller made his feature acting debut as a computer genius who takes on a corporate evildoer in Iain Softley's "Hackers" (1995). He handled the role smoothly and his romantic scenes with co-star Angelina Jolie spilled over into real-life; the pair married in 1996. In his second feature, Miller was cast as the heroin-addicted Sick Boy, a punk obsessed with Sean Connery, in Danny Boyle's flashy "Trainspotting" (1996).

Moving from contemporary times, the actor delivered a thoughtful, intense performance as a working-class soldier struck mute by the horrors of WWI in "Regeneration" (1997). He fared less well, seeming miscast as an ambitious twentysomething who is obsesses with his career and clueless to his wife's frustrations in Alan Rudolph's "Afterglow" (also 1997). Miller made his US TV debut in "Larry McMurtry's Dead Man's Walk" (ABC, 1996), a prequel to "Lonesome Dove" in which he essayed the role of Woodrow Call, played by Tommy Lee Jones in the original. In Plunkett & Macleane (1999), he played a highway robber in 18th century England whoalong with his partner (Robert Carlyle)enriches himself with goods taken from British societys wealthy elite.

For the adaptation of Jane Austens novel, Mansfield Park (1999), Miller played Edmond Bertram, cousin and soul mate of Fanny Price, a ten-year-old lifted from poverty to live with her wealthy relatives. After appearing as the daring assistant of vampire hunter Van Helsing (Christopher Plummer) in Wes Craven Presents: Dracula 2000 (2000), he was a lowly courier who leaves his dead-end job and convinces his best mate (Jude Law) to join a North London gang that eventually gets bloody with their South London rival. He then appeared in Mindhunters (2005), a dumb and obnoxious horror flick courtesy of Renny Harlin which depicted a team of FBI profilers sent on a training mission that becomes dangerously real.
