Best Thing: Dramatic tension set-up at the very start and held throughout the flashback that was most of the res
As if the rich setting, the music and the sex was not enough for most directors Ang Lee had me lusting for understanding of all the other depth and metaphor. War, invasion, mahjong (game of life and fortune), treachery, fear, lust for power and purpose, avarice, illusion, denial, beauty, love and self sacrifice. Bergman with colour.
