Night at the Museum (2006) - User Reviews

If you walk into this movie expecting laugh after laugh your going to be sadly dissapointed. There is somthing missing in this movie that i cant put my finger on that would push it from good to classic so although the box office ratings beg to differ i would call this good without being great or classic

Good points:

Ben stiller: He is perfect for this role for reasons completely unbeknowns to me and possibly himself but the role was a perfect stiller script (in a good way)

Robin Williams:
Under utilised as he was in this movie his skills come to the forfront to save the day again. Nobody else could have played Teddy Rosevelt and done it half aswell as him.

Talking stone head
Self explanitory when you watch the movie needless to say I WANT ONE :D

Owen Wilson: Made the best of a relativly small part by providing laughs a plenty.

Bad Points:

Script:
The script lacked something that is hard to describe untill you watch the movie. It had the potential to be the most amazing movie but it jumped and didnt quite make the mark. Maybe it was the choice of Mickey Rooney and as much as i hate to say it Dick vanDyke in their chosen roles but more about them later or maybe it was directed by the wrong man and we needed Alfonzo Curon but these are all null, mute points now either way i laughed but i could have laughed alot more then i did enough said.

Dick Vandyke:
One of my favorite all time actors but either he was sadly miscast in this movie,given possibly the most predictable script in history or he just didnt try because i couldnt find his role convincing.

Micky Rooney:
i couldnt find his role convincing nor did i think he showed anywhere near the acting skill he has. Be it script or lack of motivation i dont know but either way i didnt find many funny moments with him on screen.

Conclusion
This Movie will never win an oscar or an acadamy award but beyond its faults it is basicly a funny movie and i have probably been over critical in many ways because i did laugh pretty hard a few times.

Great for kids although that T rex is pretty scary and parents should get a few laughs aswell
