Sideways (2005) - User Reviews

This movie was recommended to me by several friends. I saw it was classified as a comedy, in fact there was a quote from a review stating "the funniest movie of the year". Though the film is 'amusing', I couldn't go so far as to call it 'funny' - more a romantic drama I'd say.

The characters are likeable and the script is lively and realistic. Cinematography is visually appealing and shows off the Napa and Californian wine regions well. The story is just interesting enough to keep me interested, but ends hanging in mid-air somewhat. I know this is supposed to make one think 'ooh, I wonder what happens now?' but to me it ended what I'd consider a rather disappointing experience. More of a "oh ok, I wonder what's on TV" film than one which stimulates an evening's conversation with friends.
