Best Thing: undercurents of emotion against a misty backgound
Worst Thing: a trifle long
It is a pity more of Somerset Maughan's novels are not made into movies as they lend themselves to great actors
projecting the stories of the times,the British Raj,the snobbery,the affairs all against a current of dynamic world affairs. Remember the British controlled a great number of people on the earth,which took legions of civil servants to administer.Worth seeing!
