Some guys just make it look easy: Jesse Metcalfe hadnt even completed his undergraduate work at New York Universitys prestigious Tisch School of the Arts when he was cast as the doting Miguel on the daytime drama Passions in an open audition in New York City in 1999. The former cannery worker was born on December 9, 1978 in Waterford, Connecticut. A fine Western European blend, Metcalfe is Italian, French and Portuguese. Metcalfes handsome face earned him his earliest work, as a model in Seventeen and YM magazines.
Metcalfe kept the Passions role for four years, but made time for two appearances on the WBs Smallville and a small role in the FX movie 44 Minutes: A Shootout in North Hollywood in 2003. He also volunteered his considerable basketball talents to The Hollywood Kinghts in an effort to raise money for Southern California high schools. In 2004, Metcalfe graduated from soap heartthrob to primetime star with his breakout role as the sweet, hunky teenage gardener John Rowland, who falls madly for the married Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria) on Desperate Housewives (ABC, 2004 - ).
