Tom Ragg began his foray into the world of entertainment at a young age as The Christmas Tree in his pre-school play, and has been unable to escape the glittering allure of the spotlight ever since. After appearing in several productions throughout his schooling, he decided to enrol at Macquarie University in a BA with a focus on entertainment journalism and performance.
It was during this time that he discovered his love of improvised theatre and joined the Impro Team, where he quickly worked his way up to the main troupe before taking over hosting and emceeing responsibilities for various events held on campus. Concurrently, he began assisting Channel V's Jabba on his weekend morning program, resulting in his first on-air interviews with various Australian artists.
After two and a half years, the Impro Team had significantly honed their craft and decided to create a touring sketch group known as The Third Degree. In 2005, they travelled to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, where their show received positive reviews. By the end, Tom had began to step back from the spotlight and into a more writing focused role, and while the group went on to form the cast of The Ronnie Johns Half Hour, Tom departed for journalistic waters. Hired as an online copy-writer for the short-lived teen boys magazine Xplode, Tom quickly rose through the ranks before being asked to join the Yahoo!7 team, where he has run sites for LOST and Desperate Housewives, and is a fervent daily contributor to Music and Movies.
A verified pop culture nerd, Tom spends most of his free time online, playing video games, listening to comedy, reading comic books, DJ'ing and watching TV and DVDs. His favourite films are Shaun of the Dead, Spider-Man 2, Stark Raving Mad, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Jaws, Jurassic Park and Run Ronnie Run. He states that attending San Diego Comic Con International, the world's biggest pop culture convention, is the highlight of his career... until the next nerdfest comes along!
