City of God (2003)

Through the eyes of a photographer, this drama depicts the effects of crime on the poor population of Rio de Janiero. The primary focus is Little Ze, who as a boy forms a gang called the Tender Trio. Over a decade, the members become infamous crime lords and are drawn into a cycle of gang warfare, brutality and tragedy. Nominated for 4 Academy Awards.
