Mark Peranson, founding editor of "Cinema Scope", takes up the video camera to shoot the making of Albert Serra's "Birdsong", an improvised black and white digital video reinterpretation of the biblical story of the Three Wise Men. Shooting in high-definition colour, with the eye of an accomplished cinematographer, Peranson transcends the mere chronicling of Birdsong to capture creativity itself as it materialises in real-time. Aptly taking place amidst a desolate, black, volcanic landscape in the Canary Islands, this nativity is a delightful exploration of the creative process.
