Waalo Fendo: Where the Earth Freezes (1998)

In Senegal, it has become increasingly common for young men to prove themselves not within the village, but by traveling to Europe, the 'freezing earth' of opportunities and hardships. Yaro lands up in Milan, where he is killed in a drug-related shooting that he is unfortunate enough to be in the way of. His brother Demba comes to Milan to find out what happened, and learns about the legal and illegal work options open to African immigrants, and about the marginalised Italians who face similar problems.
