The legendary story of Phoolan Devi, based on her dictated prison diaries. Devi, India's most famous and feared outlaw, was responsible for the massacre of 30 upper-caste Thakur men in Behmai, a village in Uttar Pradesh. The massacre, with its overtones of class warfare, made Devi a national heroine, worshipped as the Goddess of Flowers for the 80% of India's lower-caste Hindus. After evading capture for five years, she surrendered to the police--on her own terms--before a cheering crowd of 10,000 supporters.
