Jaime King says 'Hart of Dixie' might be axed

Jaime King says Rachel Bilson's maternity leave "has an impact" on the future of 'Hart of Dixie'.

The 35-year-old actress, who is currently expecting her second child with husband Kyle Newman, admits the show may not return for a fifth season because her co-star "wanted to take" some time off after giving birth to her first child, Briar Rose, with fiancé Hayden Christensen, last October.

Asked if the series will continue, the blonde beauty said: "It's a tricky situation because it really isn't about ratings for us. It's not like a ratings issue it was more of a timing issue. Rachel Bilson got pregnant and wanted to take a maternity leave. Every woman has a right to do that. I think that everything has an impact on the ways things are decided upon. It's very interesting because our fans are so devoted."

But Jaime, who already has 18-month-old son James Knight, is open to doing another series and misses being on set.

She told E! News: "It's really interesting, because when my son wakes up in the middle of the night, immediately I'm like, Oh! It's time for me to go to set! It makes me want to cry because I love this show so much. It's still a success. It's really whatever the universe has in store. Either way, it's been such a gift.

"We just premiered our season finale and it was amazing. It was our best season yet."
