Kim Kardashian West makes mental health awareness documentary

Kim Kardashian West is making her producing debut with a Mental Health Awareness documentary called #RedFlag.

The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star is executive producer for the TV documentary, which aims to spread awareness of how many people in America suffer from these types of illnesses.

Revealing details of the show - which will focus on how social media can be used to positively to address mental health issues but also trigger abuse - TV network HLN has stated it will follow "the lives of two people suffering from mental illness and how they use social media to express their feelings, connect with others and find support".

Kim has spoken passionately on the subject, saying: "Twenty-five percent of adults in America will suffer from a mental illness in their lifetime, and many of them turn to social media to vent their depression, loneliness, and isolation."

Kim - who is married to rapper Kanye West, with whom she has two-year-old daughter North West - added: "I am blessed to be surrounded by family and friends that are loving and nurturing, but not everyone has that kind of support."

Kim has been deemed to be perfect to work on the project as she has over 30 million Twitter followers and has firsthand experience of how to help mental health sufferers as her brother Rob suffers from depression.

The show will be broadcast on American TV on May 5.
