George Clooney swapped honeymoon for Comic Con

George Clooney cut his honeymoon short so he could attend Comic Con.

The 'Tomorrowland' star tied the knot with human rights lawyer Amal in September last year and revealed he called a part of the pair's post-wedding holiday off in favour of attending the comic convention.

Speaking on 'The Graham Norton Show', he said: "I got the call while on my honeymoon and was told it was really important that I fly in.

"First, I had to explain that to my wife which didn't play well. And then, the whole idea of spending part of your honeymoon with people dressed up like Captain Kirk and Star Wars characters somehow wasn't easy to explain to my new bride ... But, I showed up and it was actually fun."

For the earlier part of their honeymoon, the couple jetted off to the Seychelles, staying at a luxurious private resort that is only able to be accessed by a helicopter.

A source said at the time: "George and Amal were looking for the ultimate, private getaway and I believe it was Brad [Pitt] who told him to go to this resort.

"It's one of the most beautiful places on earth and George wanted to show Amal something even more amazing than Venice. It was the only place that could top off such an elaborate wedding."
