David Beckham fears for his Sexiest Man Alive crown

David Beckham has jokingly suggested Ben Stiller is trying to steal his crown as the Sexiest Man Alive.

The retired sports star was handed the coveted honour by People magazine last week, but has claimed Ben's on-screen alter-ego Derek Zoolander is trying to knock him off his perch.

David, 40, took to his Instagram account to post a picture of Ben on the front of the magazine and captioned it: "'I'm barely a week into my reign and already this man is trying to steal my thunder AGAIN @peoplemag #sexiestmanalive #bluesteel. (sic)"

The Brit's quip came shortly after Ben sent him a picture of the humorous cover, with the caption: "Hey @DavidBeckham remember when u were so mad about this?? Lol #ThrowbackMonday (sic)"

Meanwhile, David's wife Victoria - with whom he has sons Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, Cruz, 10 and daughter Harper, four -said recently that the former soccer star is "very romantic".

She shared: "David is very romantic and we regularly do lovely things to surprise each other.

"The first time I met David, nearly 20 years ago, we were at a football match. After the game all the other players were having a drink with their friends and David was standing with his mum and dad and his younger sister Joanne. Family is important to him."
