Jamie-Lynn Sigler: TV executives helped me battle bulimia

Jamie-Lynn Sigler overcame her eating disorder with the help of TV executives.

The 34-year-old actress suffered from exercise bulimia while she was starring on the hit show 'The Sopranos', and has revealed the crucial role the programme's executives had in helping her battle the illness.

She shared: "They asked me to put on weight. They were concerned for my health, and they didn't feel like I was the picture of a girl that lived in an Italian household and ate pasta all the time.

"So they were big catalysts in me taking a step back and realising the issue."

The New York-born star admitted her road to recovery was long and arduous.

She told the Huffington Post: "It's a disease, it's disordered thinking and disordered habits and I was able to correct them over a lot of time."

Meanwhile, Jamie-Lynn also revealed her former on-screen co-star James Gandolfini - who passed away in 2013 - was her "biggest inspiration".

She explained: "Honestly, by watching him and witnessing him for the ten years that I got to, he's so tremendous. I even started working with his acting coach later on and she was amazing. He's my biggest inspiration for sure."
