John Legend hopes he'll be a good parent

John Legend hopes he and Chrissy Teigen will be good parents.

The couple will welcome their first child together next year and the 'All Of Me' singer revealed his hopes for the tot.

He told PEOPLE: "I really hope we'll be good parents! I hope our child will be kind and smart and awesome in every way. Hopefully we'll do the best job we can."

John, 36, also revealed that he can't wait to welcome a child with Chrissy, 30.

He said: "It is pretty exciting that I'll have a little child running around that is the product of the love that Chrissy and I have for each other."

Meanwhile, John recently insisted that caring for their beloved canines Puddy, Pippa and Penny means he and Chrissy know what to expect when their baby arrives.

He said: "Dogs are great for a couple. It helps you raise something before you have to raise kids."

The 'Ordinary People' hitmaker has found his wife has been craving more sweets than usual since she got pregnant, but doesn't think her eating habits have changed too much.

He said: "It's not that different. I think she likes sweets a little more than she used to but other than that... She likes to eat, and we have a little baby to eat for too."
