Shia LaBeouf set to hitchhike through Colorado

Shia LaBeouf is to hitchhike through Colorado in the name of art.

The 29-year-old actor is working with artists Nastja Rönkkö and Luke Turner as he plans to spend 30 days hitchhiking around the US state with the help of his fans, who can follow the 'Fury' star's progress through his Twitter account.

Shia - who will be tweeting his co-ordinates during his hitchhike - said: "What's trippy is, it's the most expansive and most intimate thing we've done."

Shia said that the overarching ambition behind his latest art project is to "make friends".

The actor explained that once he has tweeted his co-ordinates, he will wait for fans to track him down and then ask them to take him wherever he chooses.

The controversial actor told Vice: "Hitchhiking is really the ultimate collab."

He admitted, too, that he and his collaborators are "trying to find meaning, make meaning" through their latest art project.

The proposed hitchhike adventure is the latest in a series of bizarre art projects involving the controversial American star.

In 2014, Shia undertook a six-day performance in a Los Angeles gallery entitled #IAMSORRY, in which he sat wearing a tuxedo and a paper bag over his head.

Later in the same year, the Hollywood star jumped rope for an hour on Skype as part of a project called Meditation for Narcissists.

Meanwhile, in April, Shia phoned a man and offered his sympathies after he was punched for looking like the 'Transformers' actor.

Mario Licato was attacked at a train station on his way to a bar in New York, and he revealed Shia subsequently left him a voicemail.

Mario shared: "It was a pretty long voicemail.

"He was like, 'Hey, this is Shia LaBeouf ... I just read an article that you were punched in the face because you look like me. I don't know. I wish I was in New York. I'd come bring you soup.'"
