Take my breath away Top Gun 2 is rumoured to be rolling down the runway!
Vulture has reported that a sequel to 1986's 'Top Gun' could be on the cards. Paramount Pictures has reportedly approached producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott to create a follow up to the 80's hit flick.
The question is will Tom Cruise don his aviators and return as Maverick? Apparently he will return but provided his part is not too 'obvious.'Could a sequel be a highway to the dangerzone? According to Vulture Christopher McQuarrie has been approached to write the script. McQuarrie's screenplay credits include X-Men, Valkyrie and The Usual Suspects. The Usual Suspects earnt him an Oscar for Best Screenplay, fingers crossed he keeps this quality of work up when creating the Top Gun 2 screenplay.
Jerry Bruckheimer indicated that the film's direction would need to change course as "The aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago."
Vulture reported that "Since 1986, the TOPGUN syllabus has been changed so the focus is far less on the spectacular and dramatic air-to-air dogfights that defined Top Gun and far more about teaching U.S. pilots to drop very large bombs on very small ground targets."
Rumours have it that Maverick would be depressed and disappointed at the changes at Top Gun.
We are ready to jump in the cockpit and can't wait until this one definitely gets the green light.
