Lucasfilm Boss: Harrison Ford Is A 'Badass' For Plane Crash Landing

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has dubbed Harrison Ford a "badass" at the 'Star Wars Celebration’ event in California, while saying that he regretted he could be there in person to address fans.

Ford is still recovering from injuries he sustained while performing a successful emergency landing in a small plane last month.

Though he’s on the mend, he still couldn’t make it to the event, which saw the first glimpse of Han Solo in the debut of the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

“[Ford] is the only person who could make an emergency landing on a golf course in front of two doctors,” she told the audience at the Anaheim Convention Center.

“I can’t begin to tell you how much he wanted to be here.”

However, she added that he intends to be 'very actively involved’ in promoting the movie as it heads towards its release date at Christmas.

Added director JJ Abrams: “He sends his best and he’s doing great and working hard.

“How he landed that plane… He’s more of a hero with that move than he is in any of the movies he’s been in.”

Ford was released from hospital at the end of March, and is said to be recovering ‘remarkably well’ having suffered among other injuries a broken pelvis and a broken ankle.

Fans were sent into rapture at the first look at Ford’s smuggler-turned-Rebel Alliance don in the blazing second trailer for the movie.

Concluding the action, Solo says 'Chewie, we’re home’, as the original John Williams score blasts its trumpets.

The movie lands in Australia on December 17.
