Star Wars Actor Arrested

According to TMZ, the 26-year-old Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace actor was arrested earlier today on charges of reckless driving and failure to produce a valid driver’s license.

“Jake Lloyd, the actor who played the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was arrested,” they explain, “after an insane car chase that ended when Jake plowed into some trees.”

“[Jake Lloyd]“ was arrested for reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a license.”

Of course, Jake Lloyd is perhaps best known for the role of young Anakin Skywalker - the Tatooine slave boy who would one day become Darth Vader. But while young Anakin made a name for himself on the podracing circuits, it seems the Force wasn’t with Jake Lloyd.

“Cops say Lloyd was driving in Charleston, South Carolina, when Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing him,” they reveal. “The chase was underway and it went on for miles, into another county.”

It’s revealed that a local police officer began tailing Lloyd after he was caught passing cars on the double yellow line, and began driving recklessly at high speeds.

Unfortunately, Lloyd eventually lost control of his vehicle, and the high speed chase came to a rather abrupt end after he drove off the road, through a fence and plowed the car into some trees.

“Colleton County Sheriff’s Sgt Kyle Strickland said deputies arrested a 26-year-old man they confirmed through a former talent agent was the actor,” added Sky News. “He said the man was charged with reckless driving after hitting speeds over 100 miles an hour.”

Unlike his Jedi counterpart, Lloyd was unable to use mind tricks on the local law enforcement… instead, giving his name as Jake Broadbent before police officers were able to identify him from his IMDB listing.

Although nobody is thought to be seriously injured at this time, he remains in police custody.
