Bad Boys 3 and 4 Are Coming For You

In the world of movie sequels, we have a (hopefully) exciting announcement -- Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4 have official release dates.

Sony Pictures have released their slate of confirmed upcoming movies for 2016 and 2017 with one 2019 inclusion, which features not one but two of these, ahem, Bad Boys.

Bad Boys 3 will be hitting cinemas in the U.S. on February 17, 2017, with Bad Boys 4 releasing on July 3, 2019 in the U.S..

Australian release dates are unconfirmed at this stage, but are likely to be close to the aforementioned U.S. dates given the cult-like status of the original films.

As to whether or not it'll have Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprising their roles as bromancing detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett respectively, this remains unconfirmed.

Lawrence has been pushing publicly for the third installment for a while now, so he's pretty much a lock for the film.

In August last year, Lawrence appeared on Conan in the U.S., discussing the then-potential sequel.

"I believe [it's happening], yes," Martin told Conan O'Brien. "I just talked to Jerry [Bruckheimer] yesterday, and he said it’s real, [that] they're working on a script…it all looks good."

Then in September he was at it again, tweeting: "#BadBoysIII just wouldn't be the same without #WillSmith, am I right?"

Other films confirmed for the upcoming Sony Pictures slate include a Jumanji reboot (why God, whhyyyy?) in December 2016 and The Magnificent Seven which smells like a reboot but has Chris Pratt, Matt Bomer and Denzel Washington as leads so we're crossing our fingers that Pratt can do for Seven what he did for Jurassic World.

And let's not forget the one reboot we're legitimately looking forward to -- Ghostbusters -- featuring an all female cast including Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy and Chris Hemsworth as their secretary. We'll be eagerly awaiting this to hit local screens on July 21 next year.
