Chris Hemsworth becomes a nerd for Ghostbusters

Chris Hemsworth has been revealed to be playing a nerdy assistant in the new 'Ghostbusters' film.

The hunky Australian actor has shed his macho image in favour of a pair of square specs and waistcoat, for the female-driven instalment of the franchise that stars Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones as the paranormal fighting gang.

A new website (Ghostbusters.com) has been launched to whet the appetite of fans and contains a photo of Hemsworth as well as other shots of the cast and film and other exclusive teaser content.

Director Paul Feig - who co-wrote the script with Kate Dippold - teased the trailer will soon be released on the site, writing on Twitter: "The official Ghostbusters site is up and running at Ghostbusters.com First full trailer coming around the end of this month. #ghosts (sic)"

Production on 'Ghostbusters' started last summer and the movie will arrive in July next year.

Chris will be taking on the position previously held by Annie Potts' stern secretary Janine Melnitz, over 30 years after the original film starring Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver took the world by storm.
