Chiwetel Ejiofor for Doctor Strange?

Chiwetel Ejiofor could be set to star in 'Doctor Strange'.

The 'Z For Zachariah' star is being courted by Marvel to take on a so far unspecified role in the upcoming film, which would mark his first appearance in a comic book movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Oscar-nominated actor would star alongside his '12 Years A Slave' co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, who is taking on the lead role of surgeon-turned-sorcerer supreme Stephen Strange, aka Doctor Strange.

Negotiations are currently in the early stages and characters and plot details are being kept under wraps as much as possible.

However, it's been reported that Ejiofor is wanted for the role of villain Baron Mordo, a sorcerer's pupil and mortal enemy of Strange.

Some sources have rubbished those rumours, however, claiming he could be set to play Strange's monk servant Wong, who is adept in martial arts, or the Ancient One - a semi-immortal mystic who mentors Strange.

Scott Derrickson is on board to direct the film - once fellow Marvel project 'Captain America: Civil War' has wrapped filming - and is scheduled for release in November 2016.

Ejiofor had been linked with the role of a villain in new James Bond movie 'Spectre' but the deal is said to have fallen through.
