Sophie Turner joins X-Men: Apocalypse

Sophie Turner has been cast in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.

The 'Game of Thrones' star will be joined by 'Mud's Tye Sheridan and 'Aaliyah: Princess of R&B's Alexandra Shipp.

Sophie will take on the role of Jean Grey whilst Tye will play Cyclops and Alexandra will be Storm.

Revealing the news on Twitter, the director, Bryan Singer wrote: "Meet our new and brilliant young mutants: @Alexshipppp as #Storm @SophieT as #JeanGrey and @TyeSheridan as #Cyclops. #XmenApocalypse (sic)"

Meanwhile, Oscar Isaac - who plays Apocalypse in the film's latest instalment - recently revealed that his costume would be made through both CGI and practical effects.

He said: "It'll be a mix [of practical and digital]. I haven't had a script so I haven't had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it'll be a mixture of physical.

"I'm heading to do a head cast [for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'], which they do often. You spend 3-4 hours with them putting plaster all over your head and they get a sense of what your face is like and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun."

Stars already confirmed for the 'X-Men' film include Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, who will all be reprising their roles.

The film is expected to be released in May 2016.
