Jamie Foxx to star in Sleepless Night

Jamie Foxx will star in 'Sleepless Night'.

The 'Django Unchained' star has reportedly taken on the lead role in the crime thriller alongside 'Source Code' actress Michelle Monaghan, with Swiss director Baran bo Odar helming the movie.

The picture is a remake of the 2011 French version which was originally titled, 'Nuit blanche', and has been adapted for US audiences by Andrea Berloff.

The script follows an underworld-linked cop - played by Foxx, 47 - who finds his family in danger after double-crossing his criminal colleagues and spends the night trying to retrieve his kidnapped child.

The thriller - originally taken on by Warner Bros - was recently picked up by Open Road who immediately signed up Foxx and Monaghan, 38, reports Empire.

The Academy Award-winner also has a number of other movies in the pipeline.

As well as appearing in 'The Trap' and 'Mean Business On North Ganson Street', he has been tipped to star in an upcoming Mike Tyson biopic.

Meanwhile, Monaghan can next be seen in Adam Sandler's 'Pixels' which hits cinemas in the UK on August 14.
