Judi Dench says Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel took her back to her childhood

Dame Judi Dench found 'The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' reminded her of her "childhood".

The Oscar-winning actress stars in the much-anticipated sequel to the 2012 comedy-drama film, and admits to thoroughly enjoying spending time shooting the movie in India.

Speaking at the world premiere of the movie in London's Leicester Square last night (17.02.15), she told BANG Showbiz: "I couldn't wait to get back to India. And like those places you go to during your childhood, you worry it won't be the same. Well, it was the same only better.

"I've never spent much time in India before. Two lots of eight weeks, how lucky."

The 80-year-old actress, who stars in the new film alongside Dev Patel and Richard Gere, said that although her experiences of India are relatively limited, the movie offers a fair depiction of the country as she knows it.

Dame Judi reflected: "As far as I know India, yes, it's an accurate reflection of the country. I only did the first one and this one, and I've never been before or since. I would want to go back again. I don't know whether for a third film, or just to visit."
