RUSSELL CROWE'S AWKWARD RED CARPET ENCOUNTER

Niamh Walsh, a reporter for Mail Online, asked the film’s star if he would ever consider bringing his beloved Rugby team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, to Ireland to take on their rugby team.

Crowe then had to inform her that the two teams actually play two different sports.

"Well, you see, the South Sydney Rabbitohs play Rugby League," he said.

When pressed to give an answer, Crowe continued his explanation.

"Rugby union is a 15 man sport, rugby league is a 13 an sport. Totally different rules," he said.

Unsatisfied, Walsh then proceeded to inform the actor that he had earlier referred to Ireland as being "in the UK", which Rusty clearly didn’t appreciate.


The journalist then took to Twitter to defend her reporting skills, writing, "at least I know geography…Ireland is not in the UK #fearlessjourno".

Crowe added fuel to the fire, replying, "Fearless journo my ass. You’re just a plonker who didn’t get the answer & you got shirty. Fail."
