Though the actor isn't directly involved, he may be summoned before a court in the case of a woman accused of killing a pedestrian in her car.

Nancy Lekon is to go on trial later this month for murder, after running a women over in 2009 in a Cadillac limousine and dragging her for nearly a mile under the car.

After being arrested, she told police she had been in the area visiting Depp, who she claimed was her boyfriend.

Lekon's plea is one of not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity, which is where the 50-year-old, recently-engaged star comes into the picture.

Depp would have to appear in the dock at the request of Lekon's lawyer to refute that he has ever met the woman before, helping to prove that she is delusional.

So far, Depp has not commented on the matter.

Lekon is accused of mowing down 25-year-old Sonia Taunauu, after a row over drugs near the Skid Row area.
