She told EW: “We did want to start the conversation about the sequel, and for whatever reason I was like, “No!!! We shouldn’t do that!” Now I look back and I’m like, “Why?” But now, no—it’s too late now.”

Lindsay Lohan looks back fondly on the shoot, but she admits she originally wanted the part of “cool girl” Regina, as did Amanda Seyfried.

"I wanted to play Regina. I had just played—in Confessions and Freaky—not the cool girl in school. I was still 17 years old and I wanted to be the cool girl on set," Lohan says.

"Amanda auditioned to play Regina as well. It ended up being Rachel [McAdams], and she’s wonderful."

The cast offered their thoughts on where their characters would be ten years on too with Seyfried suggesting Karen would be selling dog clothing.

Lohan thinks Cady would be in Africa “teaching girls to be nice to each other”, while Chabert thinks Gretchen would be running the Toaster Strudel empire.

McAdams, finally, thinks Regina would have settled down and become a ‘Real Housewife’ of reality TV fame.
